Good, bad, ugly of social media topic of conference

The 25th Annual Fannin County Community Services Conference will be held Wednesday, October 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Kiwanis Club Fairgrounds in Blue Ridge.

This year’s conference will tackle the subject of social media by discussing not only its benefits, but also the dangers associated with it, with the official theme being “Social Media: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.”

According to conference officials, the event will explore the effects of social media at an individual level and at the group level. It will also provide attendees with tools that can be used to protect themselves while enjoying the many benefits of social media.

The event will feature a panel discussion hosted by social media experts, time to learn about Fannin County’s many social service organizations and the annual presentation of student essays. A free bagged lunch will also be served and attendees will have the opportunity to win door prizes.

This year’s sponsors include Fannin County Family Connection, Georgia Mountains Health, Kiwanis Club of Blue Ridge, Mineral Springs Center, North Georgia Mountain Crisis Network and United Community Bank.
