Words of gratitude were spoken and a few tears were shed in the full cafeteria of Fannin County High School as Assistant Principal Theresa “T.C.” Dillard was celebrated during a retirement celebration in her honor Thursday, December 12.

McCaysville council tackles insurance, bonuses

The Copper Basin Business Association has collapsed, the steel bridge is in better shape than it was two years ago, employees will get Christmas bonuses, insurance is going to cost more and a former councilman is not happy with his water bill.

Accusations hurled at McCaysville mayor

Rodney Patterson and Tamberlyn Tanner used times set aside for comments at the December 10 McCaysville Council meeting to lash out at Mayor Thomas Seabolt. Seabolt was elected to his third term as mayor when he defeated Patterson by an almost two-to-one margin in the city’s November election.

Roof leaving West Fannin for new Fannin position

Current West Fannin Elementary School Principal Lucas Roof will become the new Fannin County School System Director of CTAE/STEM starting January 1.  “I’m just honored and blessed and just excited for the opportunity and just grateful that people in this room have faith in me to do it,” Roof said.

The Fannin County Board of Commissioners, during their December 10 meeting, approved a right-of-way easement, which will allow Hawthorne Ventures, LLC to construct tendons under the social security office building.
