McCaysville arson leads to two arrests

Daniel Lee Davis’ legal troubles continued to grow not long after his arrest December 2 by McCaysville Police Officers. That was the day he was captured on several outstanding warrants and a host of new charges were added when he tried to run from officers.

Third grade student gives $400 in prize money to fire victims

Mountain Area Christian Academy (MACA) third grade student Rozlynne Spry recently donated the $400 she had won during a fundraiser to the family of Fannin County wrestling coach Chuck Patterson who lost their home to a fire two weeks ago.

A FISHING PARTNERSHIP

Fannin County Middle School partnered with Blue Ridge Trout Unlimited (TU), Chapter 696, to raise trout from eggs for the Trout in a Classroom project.

Boy Scout Monroe helps preschool

With the help of Local Boy Scout Andrew Monroe and several organizations around Fannin County, Fannin County Preschoolers are able to enjoy a playground. “We, the teachers, and our students are forever grateful to all who helped make this dream come true,” said Teacher Michele Callihan.

Fannin candidates reminded to pay fee for placing signs

Fannin County Chief Land Development Officer Marie Woody would like to remind the public that the county has a sign ordinance currently in place. “We have noticed that there are several political signs placed through out the county,” she said.

Polk commissioners want sheriff to explain budget

Polk County commissioners are worried about the sheriff’s budget for corrections officers, so they are planning to meet with him after the first of the year. The concern came up at the commission’s Budget Committee meeting Thursday, December 19, at the Copper Basin Community Center.
