Life ends Sunday at theater

The last chance to catch the Blue Ridge Community Theater’s (BRCT) production of “It’s a Wonderful Life” is Sunday, December 15 at 2 p.m. Show times are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. The play center around George Bailey – who is overwhelmed with problems.

Tennessee State Representative Dan Howell (R-Cleveland) and State Senator Mike Bell (R-Riceville) announced the City of Benton and Copper Basin Utility District in Polk County will receive Infrastructure Planning Grants totaling $90,000.

Toys for Tots wrap up planned

The last toy drive for the 2019 Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign will be held at the INOLA Blue Ridge ice skating rink, Wednesday, December 18, 4 to 10 p.m.  Skaters and those strolling around the village may bring an unwrapped toy with a minimum value of $15 to donate.
Tri-State EMC’s Operation Roundup, which makes donations to community causes from members rounding up of their electric bills, was honored at the Fannin County veterans organizations’ Christmas dinner for the program’s contribution to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 28. Operation Roundup Chairman Glenn Harbison, left, accepted the award from Paul Hunter, center, and Joe Brandon.

Toys will be given to East Polk children at community center

Polk County Executive Robby Hatcher is inviting all children in East Polk County to the Copper Basin Community Center Friday, December 13, because “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town.” Hatcher said toys will be given to the children by Santa himself.
