Ridoch says library board was waiting for report

Fannin County Public Library Board of Trustees Chair Gordon Ridoch provided the Mountain Regional Library System board, Wednesday, February 19, with an update and history of their involvement with the Fannin County Board of Commissioners regarding the Whitepath FabTech building.

As part of an on going project, Fannin County Animal Control has been receiving donations in the form of dog houses. The houses will be given to anyone who is in need of a house for their pooch.

Hobert and Willie Abercrombie celebrated their wedding anniversary for the 73rd time Saturday, February 15. The couple was married at the home of the Rev. Gus Hunt of Hemptown February 15, 1947 after meeting as employees of the Van Raalte Company in Blue Ridge.

Fannin calendar approved

The Fannin County Board of Education selected a calendar for the 2020-2021 school year during their meeting Thursday, February 13. The selected calendar includes a start day for students of Friday, August 7 and a graduation date of Friday, May 21.

Yates to retire after 24 years

Randy Yates will walk out of the courthouse in Benton for the last time August 31 as Polk County’s assessor of property, leaving the post he has held for 24 years. But the veteran public servant says he isn’t finished working for the good of Polk County.
