Five persons were arrested on multiple charges and a large amount of methamphetamine seized when agents of the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) and Fannin County Sheriff’s Office investigators executed a search at a Morganton residence Monday, September 21.

Welch saves family

The Hedden family is alive thanks to their neighbor, Rodney Welch, who noticed their house was on fire Tuesday, September 29. Welch was on his way to work around 5 a.m. when he saw the Heddon home, located at 2584 Mobile Road in McCaysville, on fire.

Stiles charged with vicious knife attack

Timothy Charles Stiles, 41, remained in custody Friday, October 2, charged with severly cutting his victim before stabbing himself in the neck as deputies worked to take him into custody.

Fannin County Special Olympics is currently hosting virtual bingo nights via Facebook in order to support their athletes while they are unable to host in-person events.

MACA can receive Georgia witholding tax

Give money and get it back in return. By redirecting Georgia’s withholding tax to Mountain Area Christian Academy (MACA) through the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program, Inc., instead of giving it to the state, folks will receive a Georgia education expense tax credit for the filing year.

Family Connection honors volunteers

The last Friday of September, 2019, Fannin County Family Connection was busy moving into their new facility. This year, on the last Friday of September, September 25, the organization held a lunch in honor of the volunteers who’ve spent countless hours helping the residents of the county.
