Polk parade December 12

The Sounds of Christmas, Polk County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas parade, is scheduled for Saturday, December 12, at 1 p.m. in Benton.

County says something must be done with fence

A homeowner on Lebanon Road in Fannin County has built a fence, using pressure treated 6x6 posts, in the county’s right of way that county officials have deemed to be potentially dangerous. “From what I’ve seen, that’s a pretty dangerous thing right there,” Chairman Stan Helton said.

The Fannin County Board of Commissioners are advertising a budget for the 2021 Fiscal Year that includes $29,356,858 in Grand Total All Expenditures and $29,534,299 in Grand Total All Revenue Funds. In comparison, the 2020 budget totaled $28,564,665.

Commission dodges Whitepath issue, leaves for new board

The Fannin County Board of Commissioners took no action on the Whitepath FabTech building after Post Two Commissioner Glenn Patterson requested to add it to the agenda during a meeting Tuesday, November 10, and will not take any action regarding the building for the remainder of the year.
