St. Anthony program asks help as needs jump

St. Anthony Catholic Church’s “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” program is in need of donations to cover a large increase in requests for assistance.  The fund confidentially identifies and offers assistance to needy neighbors year-round.

Toys for Tots needs help meeting needs

The local 2020 Toys for Tots campaign, conducted by Marine Corps League Detachment 1438 of Blue Ridge, has officially reached its midpoint. So far, league members have received 600 toy requests for over 1,400 children in the area, and they expect this number to continue to grow.

Playground to open with fresh mulch

Blue Ridge’s downtown playground will open once again but with fresh mulch. The decision came after many months of feuding among council members and a long, heated debate during Monday’s special called meeting, December 30.

Chris McKee knew in tenth grade he would serve

Chris McKee knew in tenth grade that he was going to serve at least 20 years in the United States Air Force, and that’s exactly what he did. “The Air Force recruiter knew he had me in the tenth grade,” McKee said.
