Ducktown Christmas set Dec. 5

Christmas in Ducktown is sure to bring cheer Saturday, December 5. With live music beginning at 4 p.m. and a parade at 6 p.m., the evening will be full of Christmas spirit. Local businesses will provide free refreshments, including, but not limited to, coffee and hot chocolate, beginning at 5 p.m.

Copperhill parade December 5

Join the Copperhill Kiwanis Club for their 99th annual Christmas parade Saturday, December 5, at 2 p.m. This year’s theme aims to honor first responders with the theme being “American Heroes Christmas.” The parade will commence from Steve Taylor Ball Field on West Tennessee Avenue.

Humane society event Dec. 1

Humane Society of Blue Ridge’s Giving Tuesday event is December 1 at 8 a.m. To participate, visit their Facebook page that day and make a donation. In the past, Facebook has agreed to match funds raised up to a certain amount. Last year, that number was $7 million.

St. Luke’s bazaar slated December 5

St. Luke’s Anglican Church’s annual Christmas Bazaar is coming up and will take place Saturday, December 5. The event, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m, will feature an outdoor Christmas Market under cover in the open air as well as the indoor shopping in the church’s social hall.

Mt. Moriah hosts drive-thru nativity

Mt. Moriah Baptist Church will hold a live nativity drive-thru for members of the community again this year. Folks will have the opportunity to view the live event Friday, December 4 and Saturday, December 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on both days.

Light Up Blue Ridge starts Nov. 27

Blue Ridge residents and visitors still have the opportunity to shop locally, enjoy strolling entertainment and food vendors, visit with Santa and more during this year’s Light Up Blue Ridge celebration.

Coach’s prayer brings “unconstitutional” allegation

The Fannin County School System intends to meet with all Fannin County High School coaches to discuss issues related to the First Amendment after the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) contacted the system regarding Head Football Coach Chad Cheatham’s leading the team in prayer.
