Reports of good news for the county’s taxpayers and employees dominated a summary of Fannin County’s proposed $37.2 million Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 budget Tuesday, November 30, during a public hearing.

Gilbert earns UNG transfer scholarship

Audrey Gilbert, of Blue Ridge, is one of ten students who earned a $500 transfer scholarship to University of North Georgia (UNG) when she began taking classes on the Dahlonega campus this Fall semester 2021.

Dogs of many kinds can be found at Fannin County Animal Control, and they are ready for their fur-ever homes. By Wednesday of last week, seven dogs had been taken in, while one was adopted and two more were reclaimed.
Festivities in McCaysville last Friday night, November 26, featured the lighting of the Christmas Tree on the deck overlooking the Toccoa River at Twisted Tomato. A large crowd turned out for the event, which featured McCaysville Mayor Thomas Seabolt throwing the switch to light the tree. The event was sponsored by the McCaysville Business Association.
