Fannin firefighters honored at annual dinner

The presentation of annual awards, recognition of a graduating class of firefighters, and the announcement of several promotions highlighted the annual Fannin County Fire Department Christmas dinner December 9.

The first award presented, the Stanley Henson Volunteer of the Year Award, went to Bill Marsh. Marsh has over 60 years of firefighting experience and currently serves as captain at Station 13.

Assistant Fire Chief Rob Ross received the Lawrence Waters Rescue Award and the Firefighter of the Year Award went to Bradley Beaver.

Fire Chief Larry Thomas recognized 13 new firefighters who graduated from National Professional Qualification (NPQ) 1 class. These volunteers completed over 300 hours of training to earn this certification.

Several promotions were announced that included:

•Josh Golden, captain, Station 3;

•Steven McCray, lieutenant, Station 2;

•Jared White, lieutenant, Station 4;

•Jacob Queen, lieutenant, Station 5;

•Tony Galloway, lieutenant, Station 6;

•Justin Turner, lieutenant, Station 9;

•Tim Grant, lieutenant, Station 10;

•Andrew McDaris, captain, Station 11;

•Martin Senterfitt, captain, Station 14;

•Bradley Beaver, lieutenant, Station 11;

•Bob Castlen, lieutenant, Station 13; and,

•John Calvert, lieutenant, Station 14.
