Impact100 Fannin promises $60,000 grant to local group

Impact100 Fannin, a new non-profit in Blue Ridge, held its final recruitment event at ROE Raw Oyster Bar Monday, June 27. The organization is one of over 60 chapters in Impact100 Global. The mission of Impact100 is to bring empowered women together to transform their communities.

Three arrested on charges of selling various drugs

A tip reporting possible drug activity led law enforcement officers to the Mineral Springs Apartments in Blue Ridge where they arrested three individuals on a host of drug charges involving the sale of heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana.
This gentleman rocked a cowboy hat and acoustic guitar during Pickin’ in the Park last Thursday night, July 14, at Ron Henry Horseshoe Bend just outside McCaysville. The weekly event, which is sponsored by the Fannin County Recreation Department, features a variety of instruments, none of which can be electric. The event will continue every Thursday night through September.

Fannin County Commission Chairman Jamie Hensley believes everyone who could be affected needs to be pro-active in developing solutions if the William T. “Boss” Mull Memorial Bridge on State Route 5 across the Toccoa River in McCaysville were to be closed.

Fannin County Animal Control is full of friendly, good natured dogs desperately waiting for new families who will care for them. This past week, 21 dogs have been taken into the facility while nine have been reclaimed by their owners and one was adopted by a new family.
