An investigation that began in early July by the Fannin County’s Sheriff’s Office continues to solve burglaries and result in more charges against a single suspect.
Jammie Eugene Pierce, 42, of 260 Mountain Rivers, Mineral Bluff, has been in jail since his arrest July 6 on a single felony charge of First Degree Burglary and a probation violation warrant. He is being held without bond.
Since his arrest, two additional First Degree Burglary charges have been filed against him. Both are felonies.
Investigator John Arp said the case started July 2 with the report of a burglary at a Lakewood Highway residence. An image of the suspect was captured on a Ring doorbell camera.
Arp said he was traveling through the Mineral Bluff area July 6 when he spotted a man walking who matched the physical characteristics of the suspect seen on the camera. That man turned out to be Pierce.
When Arp stopped to question Pierce, a check of his identification revealed the probation violation warrant. Arp said he also placed him under arrest for the Lakewood Highway burglary.
Pierce was then taken to the camper where he was living in the Mineral Bluff area.
During a search of the camper, Arp said many of the items from the July 2 burglary were found, as well as a large quantity of other items. Everything was mixed together, but many items had various indicators that could be used to trace their owners. There were also several pill bottles recovered with names other than Pierce’s.
From the items, Arp said he was led to two more burglaries that had not been reported.
One was at another Lakewood Highway address and occurred between June 26 and July 7. The second was at a residence off Old Highway 76 and was believed to have occurred in December, according to warrants sworn out against Pierce.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Arp said he is still working with the evidence to determine where it was stolen. That includes a effort to find anyone who knows, or knows of a family member, of Justin Dockery who lived or is living in or near the Mineral Bluff area. An item with his name was found among the stolen property recovered at the camper. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 706-632-2044.
