Blue Ridge Community Theater (BRCT) has cautiously reopened, according to BRCT President Patricia Webb. “Due to the on-going interactions with our patrons and our theater family, your Blue Ridge Community Theater has cautiously planned the remainder of a 2020 Season,” Webb said.

Toys for Tots sees increase in need

Members of the Marine Corps League Detachment 1438 expect a large increase in need for their annual Toys for Tots program this year. Last year, the program collected over 2,800 toys and around $15,000 in cash to purchase toys. Overall, they distributed 3,853 toys to 920 children.

101 new COVID-19 cases reported during last two weeks

Fannin County has seen an increase of 101 cases of COVID-19 over the last two weeks as of Monday, October 12. This brings the county’s total up to 752 positive cases since the pandemic began. Twenty-eight of those people who had contracted the virus have died, and 64 have been hospitalized.

Panter says park not up to code

The City of Blue Ridge’s downtown park is not up to code, according to Councilman Mike Panter. “When the city built the playground a few years ago and added all the big, nice stuff, we’re not up to code,” he said during a Tuesday, October 6, workshop.
