Fannin candidates reminded to pay fee for placing signs

Fannin County Chief Land Development Officer Marie Woody would like to remind the public that the county has a sign ordinance currently in place.

“We have noticed that there are several political signs placed through out the county,” she said. “The ordinance requires a $300 deposit be paid to the Fannin County Commissioner’s office, before placing any signs.”

According to Woody, any political signs that are displayed before the primary, general election or referendum must be located on private property.

“No political sign shall be placed on any public lands or public right-of-way and shall not be attached to any other sign, utility poles, tree, rock or other form of vegetation or natural feature,” she said.

Those wishing to view the sign ordinance can do so at fannincountyga.com or at the Land Development Office, which is located on the first floor of the Fannin County Courthouse in Blue Ridge. Woody can be reached at 706-258-5170.
