Blue Ridge residents and visitors still have the opportunity to shop locally, enjoy strolling entertainment and food vendors, visit with Santa and more during this year’s Light Up Blue Ridge celebration.
This year’s event features multiple adjustments and cancellations in order to follow COVID-19 recommendations, however, the Light Up Blue Ridge events will kick off November 27 with Blue Friday, where shoppers can shop locally while enjoying strolling entertainment and food vendors on East Main Street.
The entertainment and food will continue into the next day, Saturday, November 28.
Children will have the opportunity to visit with Santa in the downtown park gazebo from noon to around 4:30 p.m. This year, children will not be allowed to sit on Santa’s lap and there will be plexiglass between Santa and his visitors. Santa’s mailbox will also be available for children’s letters to Santa.
The Gingerbread Village at the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association will be open November 27 through December 13, where visitors can see the creatively crafted houses during regular Art Center hours.
Stores in the downtown area will also compete in Light Up Blue Ridge’s annual Window Decorating Contest, and the winners will be announced December 1.
Light Up Blue Ridge is organized by a group of dedicated local citizens. Call 706-258-2432 for more information.
