Fannin has not agreed to pool plan

The Fannin County Board of Commissioners (BOC) have not agreed to anything regarding a joint aquatic center with the City of Blue Ridge, contrary to statements made by Blue Ridge officials.

Widespread damages caused by overnight storm

Severe storms that moved through Fannin County Thursday, March 25, and on into early Friday, March 26, morning caused widespread damages, the two most serious reported on Bullen Gap Road in Blue Ridge and the Boss T. Mull Memorial Bridge in McCaysville.

Ducktown Basin Museum tells re-opening

With excitement, the Ducktown Basin Museum announced their re-opening after nearly one full year. Their current hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The best of the best for 2020 were honored Wednesday, March 17, when Fannin County firefighters, rescue workers and ambulance service personnel were singled out during the Emergency Management Agency’s (EMA) annual awards ceremony.

Arts in the Park back on schedule for May 29 and 30

It’s official, the Spring Arts in the Park festival is happening May 29 and 30 in downtown Blue Ridge park. The Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association (BRMAA) announced Sunday, March 14, that the festival will move forward following COVID-19 guidelines.

$206,000 approved for repairs

A City of Blue Ridge lift station will be abandoned, and $206,349.23 is being spent on water and sewer repairs and improvements as a result of a Tuesday, March 9, council decision. Councilman Nathan Fitts expressed a desire to close the lift station near CVS and reroute it to Industrial Park.
