Ladies Night Out offers mammograms at hospital

Blue Ridge Medical Center and Blue Ridge Medical Group are joining forces to host a Ladies Night Out as attention is focused on October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event will be held at the hospital Tuesday, October 17, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Hayes, Parks honored for saving life

It has been well over a year since Austin Hayes and Haley Parks came upon a horrific traffic crash just south of Mineral Bluff on Highway 60. They were honored last week for their quick actions in the face of terrifying danger.

Proceeds given to Gazaway children

Richard Gazaway’s daughters, Skylar and Riley, received proceeds last week from the golf tournament earlier this year honoring their late father, Fannin County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Richard Gazaway. Richard and his wife Heather lost their lives in a tragic car crash in January 2022.

New greenhouse celebrated with groundbreaking

Fannin County School Superintendent Shannon Dillard-Miller said the system’s students now have “a facility to support their abilities.” Dillard-Miller was speaking of the new greenhouse that will be built next to the Agriculture Center.

Festival brings fun, politics to Epworth

“I’ll always be grateful for what we have here in the north Georgia mountains,” said 7th district representative Johnny Chastain at the Fannin County Republican Party’s Third Annual Fall Festival. This was a sentiment echoed by many of the speakers present at the event.
Dewayne Dopsie of Dewayne Dopsie and the Hellraisers electrified the Blues & BBQ crowd in Blue Ridge Saturday night. It was the group’s third time appearing at the event, which marked its 12th anniversary this year. Despite rain most of the day, the sky held back for the last performances and the traditional huge crowd was on hand to end the day.
