Fannin County Chief  Appraiser Dawn Cochran reminded residents this week that the Board of Assessors appraisal staff works throughout the county to conduct onsite field inpections all year long.

Labor Day BBQ on, other activities canceled

Carlie Hammond said late Monday afternoon, August 28, the Good Samaritans of Fannin County will still host the 42nd Annual Labor Day BBQ, but all other activities planned by the organization for the weekend have been canceled.

Food pantry to open one Sat. a month

The Fannin County Family Connection (FCFC) Food Pantry will be open one Saturday a month from 10 a.m. until noon starting on September 16. Sherry Morris says, “We saw an opportunity to help more.” The FCFC Food Pantry served roughly 8,270 families in just the last year.

April King: Taking care of soldiers

“I had the best job...I love taking care of soldiers.” That’s what April King did for 25 years as a member of the Georgia Army National Guard, she took care of soldiers. She was April Asher when she enlisted in 1987 at the age of 17, even before she had finished her high school education.
