Do you know how to determine which variety of apples is your favorite if there isn’t a sign posted above them at Mercier Orchards or the grocery store?
Maybe you don’t, but East Fannin first graders do after Apple Day at the Fannin County School System Agriculture Center October 26.
Students went through a rotation of learning stations where they learned how apples grow, the anatomy of apples, and how to use their senses to determine which kind would be their favorite. This included tasting various apples.
The lessons were taught by Rhonda Matthews, 4-H Agent Kate Phillips, and members of the North Georgia Master Gardeners. Mercier Orchards donated the apples.
