Toys: Annual program reaches nearly 1,000
Fannin County Toys for Tots provided over $100,000 in gifts to nearly 1,000 children this Christmas.
Out of those children, 324 families were provided assistance. Last year, 874 children were supported.
The effort is spearheaded by the Marine Corps League Detachment #1438 yearly.
Co-coordinator Jim Brumbelow said over half of their applicants had picked up their loads on the first day of distribution at Fannin County Family Connection Friday, December 20.
However, there were some stragglers unable to make it Friday or Saturday, so pick up was offered for a couple hours Monday as well.
Aside from Fannin, a vast amount of families came from Polk County along with a few from neighboring Murphy, North Carolina and Gilmer County, Georgia.
Brumbelow and Co-coordinator Dale Greene thanked the volunteers, sponsors and donors for their efforts in making the distribution a success.
Given the magnitude of the effort, planning starts over as soon as the giving season ends. Email morganton.ga@toysfortots.org or call 404-405-5024 to get involved.
