Local businesses lend a helping hand amid COVID-19 crisis

In response to the hardships COVID-19 may bring to those in the Fannin and East Polk area, several local businesses are lending a helping hand.

Following is a guide of businesses that are offering services free to those in need:

•Blue Ridge Pharmacy, 6020 Appalachian Highway, Blue Ridge, is offering delivery of essentials such as medications, paper towels, toilet paper and rubbing alcohol to elderly customers during regular business hours;

•Bumblebee’s Cafe, 5850 Appalachian Highway Suite 9, Blue Ridge, is offering pancakes to school aged children during regular business hours;

•Burra Burra on the River, 100 Blue Ridge Dr. Suite 100, McCaysville, is offering a slider burger and a snack sized fry to school aged children and the elderly Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. until school resumes;

•Coon’s Country Store, 12305 Morganton Highway, Morganton, is offering breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for school aged children and elderly until school resumes;

•El Rio Mexican Restaurant, 113 Ocoee St., Copperhill, is offering school aged children a free meal off the kids menu during regular business hours;

•Kat’z New York Deli, 32 Toccoa Ave., McCaysville, is offering free oatmeal and juice to school aged children Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. through the month of March;

•North Georgia Spas, 105 Mountain St., Blue Ridge, is offering a food and snack pick-up for families during regular business hours;

•Southern Drug Company, 4075 E. First St., Blue Ridge, is offering same day delivery of medicine and food to customers during regular business hours; and

•Twisted Tomato, 100 Blue Ridge Dr. Suite 101, McCaysville, is offering two slices of cheese or pepperoni pizza to school aged children and elderly Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
