Brown found not guilty by Polk jury

Quantavious Brown, 24, of Copperhill, was found not guilty on charges from an alleged 2018 incident in which he was accused of forcing his way into a Copperhill woman’s home and sexually assaulting her. Brown had been held in the Polk County Detention Center without bond since August 3, 2018.

Dog rescued from cliff

Having been missing all night, Finn, a herding dog, was reunited with his owners, Kathy and Pete Kaup, with thanks to many of Fannin County’s first responders. Shortly before 8 a.m.
The Humane Society of Blue Ridge cat of the week is Vicki. This one-year-old tuxedo beauty is shy at first, but once she gets to know you, she will be your furever friend. Vicki’s favorite activity is chasing ping pong balls! She is spayed, microchipped and current on her vaccinations. Contact the Adoption Center at 706-632-4357 to schedule a visit with Vicki. She will have you wrapped around her paw in no time!

This female, a Beagle mix was found on Mountain View Lane, in McCaysville, May 27. He has a thick, white and gold-ish coat, and loves to be walked and given attention. View her using intake number 168-21. She is shown with Animal Control officer Paul Cochran.

Adopt a Pet

Kick off this summer with a new four legged friend. Fannin County Animal Control has several dogs at the facility that would make a great summertime advent- ture companion. The featured dog this week is a female, Beagle mix. This girl loves being outside playing or spending time with people.

Moratorium placed on special alcohol licenses

Everyone was all smiles  to see Post One Commissioner Johnny Scearce in his chair for the first time at the Fannin County Board of Commissioners regular meeting Wednesday, May 25, in which a moratorium regarding the issuance of any Special Event License for alcoholic beverages was debated.

Each page features the story of a local veteran, and the pages are being placed in a book to remain on permanent display at the Veterans Museum near Fannin County Middle School. In some capacity since 1999, Robin Davenport has served the Mineral Springs Center (MSC) and its people, and now, Davenport has taken the reigns as director of the center.
