Want to be part of a social, healthy, fun and competitive club? Join Fannin County’s new pickleball club.
The club will have its first meeting Wednesday, January 22, at 4 p.m. at the Fannin County Recreation Department. The first meeting will help determine club schedules, by-laws, officers and fees.
Pickleballer and club founder Gail O’Neill said, “Forming a club will give Pickleball legitimacy and credibility. A club will make it must easier to establish an affiliate relationship with USAPA (USA Pickleball Association). It is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and surrounding counties have acknowledged this growth by building dedicated Pickleball courts and forming clubs to help bring attention to the sport.”
O’Neill said locals, part-timers and visitors are all welcome to join in on the fun, which will “enrich the camaraderie and challenge the group to a higher level of play.
“Benefits of Pickleball extend to its inexpensive nature and the ease of exercise without straining muscles or having to run as much as other sports.”
