July 19 car show benefits Fannin food pantry

Fannin County Family Connection has partnered with Lovin Racing and Circuit World to hold a car show to benefit their local food pantry. The event will take place Sunday, July 19, at 2 p.m. at Circuit World in Blue Ridge, which is located at 5425 Appalachian Highway in Blue Ridge.
Fritz and Jackie Gilbert, founders of Freedom For Fido, were set up in Tri State Pet Rescue’s parking lot in downtown Blue Ridge Saturday, July 4, trying to raise funds for their organization.

Comedy Central’s Hunt to help Freedom for Fido

Comedy Central comedian Eric Hunt is coming to Blue Ridge for a good cause – Freedom For Fido. Freedom For Fido, a local non-profit dedicated to freeing dogs from life on a chain, is hosting a show Thursday, July 23 to help raise funds for their projects.

Pickin’ returns to park Thursday

Pickin’ in the Park is set to return to Ron Henry Horseshoe Bend Park in McCaysville tomorrow, Thursday, July 9, beginning at 6 p.m. The annual event, which occurs every Thursday through September, features live music jams, lots of singing and pickin’ on the banks of the Toccoa River.
“The four old broads are eager to return to the stage!” Blue Ridge Community Theater Production Manager Joseph Nicolella said. The production, Four Old Broads, came to a halt amid the COVID-19 pandemic in late March. Broads shown, from left, are Toni Creed, Norma Bean, Swan McKnight and Sherry Triebert.

Trees to be harvested near Deep Hole

The U.S. Forest Service recently announced that they will conduct a “salvage harvest of storm damaged trees,” consisting of approximately 15 acres of National Forest System land adjacent to Forest Service Road 69E in Suches, south of Deep Hole Recreation Area.
This male mix was found on Salem Road in Mineral Bluff June 24. He will be staying at Animal Control until reclaimed or adopted. He has a soft white coat with spots of black and brown. View this feller using intake number 176-20. He is shown with Animal Control Officer J.R. Cornett.
