Fannin County 911 upgraded

Fannin County’s 911 Department has partnered with Carbyne to provide the call center with the ability to connect with callers using live video, instant messaging and advanced mobile location capabilities

“We are extremely proud to announce this major step in the evolution of our emergency response to our community,” Fannin County EMA/E-911 Deputy Director Patrick Cooke said. “The ability to now connect with citizens as they call whether it is via video or silent instant chat, dramatically increases the efficiency of communications with callers but also provides them the confidence to communicate in cases where voice is not an option. Enhancing our location services means that now we can dynamically view a caller even when on the move. Location is the most critical element in any emergency response. Having such advanced capabilities means that we can dispatch in greater confidence.”

Cooke explained that Carbyne will expand the department’s capability to serve citizens in emergency situations, stating, “The Carbyne system will allow us to get GPS coordinates directly from the phone (rather than the triangulation we currently receive from cell phone carriers), live video, and text messaging. This system works by sending a text message to 911 callers when they dial 911 in Fannin County which, once they give us permission, we can access their location and live video from their phone. Callers also have the capability to send text messages at the same time.

“It should be a huge benefit for the citizens and visitors to Fannin County.”
