Polk hears from CareMed

Polk County commissioners heard a  promise last week that CareMed plans to live up to its contract to provide ambulance service to the county within two weeks – maybe.
The Fannin County Board of Education voted, January 20, to build a new Transportation Facility at a cost of $6,438,627, which will include a 8,340 square foot bus maintenance area, a training center, a break room and room for storage among other things.

School board approves $10 million projects

Fannin County Board of Education members unanimously voted, Thursday, January 22, to build both a Transportation Facility and a Staff Development Center at the Toccoa Property at a cost not to exceed $9,998,763.

Commission changes meeting times, comment period

Fannin County Board of Commissioners meetings will now be held later and feature multiple changes to the public commentary portion to allow for more input from Fannin County citizens. Rather than 5:15 p.m., the meetings will now begin at 6 p.m.

Fannin Tax Assessors office closed to public

The Fannin County Tax Assessors office is temporarily closed to the public, but citizens needing assistance can still call the office for help. Staff members will do all they can over the phone and will take messages as necessary to fulfill requests.

Blue Ridge council tables zoning vote – again

The request by Johnnie Hastings to rezone a 14.15-acre parcel along Appalachian Highway (515) was tabled following nearly two hours of discussion Tuesday, January 12. On behalf of Integrity Development Group, LLC., Hastings presented their intentions with the property.

Johnson sets conditions for service

While Fannin County Post One Commissioner Earl Johnson will continue to serve as the county waits for Commissioner-Elect Johnny Scearce to be sworn in, he has chosen to abstain from all votes that do not require a tie-breaker and to not be compensated by the county.
