The Fannin County Tax Assessors office is temporarily closed to the public, but citizens needing assistance can still call the office for help.

Staff members will do all they can over the phone and will take messages as necessary to fulfill requests.

Fannin County Commission Chairman Jamie Hensley said Monday evening, January 18, that he, working with the Board of Assessors, made the decision to temporarily close the office to the public “out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of public safety considering the COVID-19 situation."

Hensley did not say when the office, located on the first floor of the Fannin County Courthouse, would reopen.

The Tax Assessors office staff can be reached at 706-632-5954.

No other courthouse offices are affected.

However, the administrative office of the sheriff's office remains closed to the public, but can be reached by phone.
