249 cases added to Fannin’s COVID-19 total

Fannin County has seen an additional 249 cases of COVID-19 over the last two weeks as of Monday, January 18.

This brings the county’s total up to 1,606 positive cases since the pandemic began. Thirty-nine of those people who had contracted the virus have died, seven probable deaths have been reported and 130 have been hospitalized. 

In comparison, last week the county had seen 1,455 positive cases total as of Monday, January 11. Thirty-seven of those people who had contracted the virus had died, seven probable deaths had been reported and 125 had been hospitalized. 

Of the Fannin County School System’s 2,902 students, 11 have a current COVID-19 status, 73 are quarantined due to exposure at school and 81 are quarantined due to non-school exposure. There are currently 348 students enrolled in online learning that do not attend in-person classes.

Of the 472 system employees, 11 have a current COVID-19 status, less than 10 are quarantined due to an exposure at school and less than 10 are quarantined due to non-school exposure.

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) reported that Georgia has seen 684,763 confirmed cases, 11,095 virus related deaths, 1,265 probable deaths, 46,741 hospitalizations and 7,964 ICU admissions. Of these, 4,428 confirmed cases, 63 deaths and 122 hospitalizations were reported January 18. 

In comparison, last week the state had seen 642,712 confirmed cases and 10,299 virus related deaths.

As of Monday, there were 1,696 providers across the state enrolled to administer COVID-19 vaccines, and 402,955 vaccines had been administered in Georgia. DPH reported that out of the 457,275 allocated Pfizer vaccines for Georgia, 407,550 had been shipped, and out of the 591,100 allocated Moderna vaccines allocated for Georgia, 519,800 had been shipped. 

According to the Georgia Geospatial Information Office, the United States has seen 24,008,779 confirmed cases and 398,153 deaths.
