Jerry Whitehead, of Blue Ridge, is the recipient of the 2020 Silver Beaver Award. Through the Boy Scouts of America, the award is nomination based and is the highest award the Scouts can bestow. It honors “registered scouters of exceptional character,” according to their website.

After more than two years, Elizabeth has made her way home to Steve and Nikki Shamblin and the rest of the family. The Shamblins have been hard at work since 2018 trying to adopt now 15-year-old Elizabeth from an orphanage in Colombia, South America.

Georgia is currently in Phase 1 of the Department of Health’s COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout Plan, and as of Monday, January 11, all adults 65 years of age and older, law enforcement and fire personnel were officially able to receive the first dose of the vaccination.

“My residence has always been in the city (of Blue Ridge),” Blue Ridge Councilman Nathan Fitts said following allegations that he was not living within city limits prior to qualifying for the 2017 election.
