COVID-19 is increasing in Fannin County. In the last two weeks, 61 positive cases have been reported. The two weeks prior saw 39 people test positive. While these numbers do not scream of an uncontrollable outbreak, they do tell us the situation is real, serious and growing.

I’ve had good reasons for not getting a Covid-19 vaccine ever since talk of one began. All my reasons gave me a solid platform to “just say no” to taking the shot. See if you don’t agree. The last time I took a vaccine to prevent something, I got it.

Numbers or not, virus creates lessons

Fannin County’s coronavirus numbers are flat. They have been for a couple of weeks.  Other counties are reporting spikes while others are seeing declines. And numbers and their accuracy, along with the tests that create them, are being questioned more and more. But numbers or not, a virus exists.

Just when it appeared Blue Ridge City Council members wanted to be sure annexation was done the right way, with plenty of citizen input, it looks like they are interested in rushing it through.

To their credit, members of the Blue Ridge City Council put an annexation plan on hold when they met Tuesday. Council member Nathan Fitts accused Mayor Donna Whitener of lying to the council to get the plan passed in February.

Americans taking up the fight

The fighting isn’t hand-to-hand with pitchforks and farm tools.  Soldiers aren’t hidden behind trees waiting to see the whites of the enemy’s eyes before firing their muskets, and neither are they charging the battlefield behind a new flag of red, white and blue.
