Fannin County’s coronavirus numbers are flat. They have been for a couple of weeks.
Other counties are reporting spikes while others are seeing declines.
And numbers and their accuracy, along with the tests that create them, are being questioned more and more.
But numbers or not, a virus exists. But viruses have always been around and always will. So a few lessons, political ones aside, should be learned from the months-long panic. For instance:
•Wash your hands with soap and water frequently. You can’t see a virus, but your hands are a carrier to help it get into your body. This happens when you rub your eyes, scratch your nose or put fingers in your mouth. Think of the invisible virus as something you don’t want on your hands and imagine it as something that you can see. Use the nastiest thought you can. You’ll wash your hands more frequently.
•Wash your hands, wash your face and wash your hands again. Why? You washed the germs off your hands, then washed the germs off your face. Where are the germs from your face? Back on your hands. Get them off.
•If you’re sick, stay at home.
•If your child is sick, keep him or her at home.
•If you cough, contain it. Cough, or sneeze, into your elbow, a tissue or a handkerchief.
•Nutrition and exercise are important when it comes to immune system health. Don’t ignore them.
Stay healthy and maybe the next time a new virus raises its ugly head panic can be averted.
