EDITORIAL: Students should benefit from any extra money

A bottomless pit filled with money must be out there somewhere for elected school officials to use as they see fit. At least that’s the impression given by members of the Fannin County Board of Education who voted unanimously to ask that their own compensation be more than doubled.

Copperhill residents and businesses need and deserve full time law enforcement protection. Anything less is not satisfactory. A look at recent drug arrests, multiple complaints by residents and business owners, and a close look at the city itself are proof.

EDITORIAL: Traveling Wall pays tribute to sacrifices

The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall will arrive in Blue Ridge Thursday morning, October 3, around 11 a.m. escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders and Combat Veterans. Then, Friday morning at 10 a.m., the official Grand Opening of the Wall exhibit will be held. The Wall is a reminder of sacrifice.

Prayer movement grew out of 9/11

It’s hard to believe the United States was attacked on September 11, 18 years ago. Many of us remember where exactly we were when reports hit the news channels. Mike and I had only been married six months and were living in Riverview, Florida, in an apartment trying to forge our new life together.

I am not a big Facebook fan, or a fan of any kind of social media.  My reasoning is simple, social media causes too many problems. It opens the door for people to say things they don’t have to stand behind and those things can disappear as quickly as they appear.
