TVA event geared toward attracting business to Fannin/Polk

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) hosted a networking reception Thursday, May 19, with the idea of attracting business to the Fannin and Polk County communities.

Members of Copper Basin High School’s  Class of 2022 were remembered as “the most sweetest and kind hearted group of students” by CBHS Principal Holly Smith during graduation ceremonies Friday night.

Are you looking for a fur-ever friend to spend  the longer days with? Then Fannin County Animal Control is the place to visit. This past week, 16 dogs were taken in and under animal control care, four dogs were adopted and three dogs were reclaimed by their owners.

Dairy classroom visits Fannin

Nicole Duvall told East Fannin Elementary School fifth graders all about dairy farming in Georgia when she brought Georgia’s Mobile Dairy Classroom to the school Wednesday morning, May 11. During her trip through Fannin County, Duvall visited all three elementary schools.

Urgency, fear and passion, all fueling determination to make sure school children are fed, filled a room in the Performing Arts Center on the Fannin County High School campus last week. Nutrition directors from seven North Georgia school districts met Thursday, May 12, to tell U.S.

$15 MILLION

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp promised $13 million to expand the University of North Georgia (UNG) Blue Ridge campus when he signed the state’s 2023 budget at the school last week. Combined with $2 million pledged in the 2022 budget, a total of $15 million is designated for UNG Blue Ridge.

Fannin County Animal Control had 15 dogs in their care as of Wednesday morning, May 4. This past week, six dogs were taken in, while two were adopted. One dog was reclaimed by their owner. Volunteers are welcome to visit, walk and play with dogs at the facility during business hours.

The cars are back in their garages and the smoke has cleared from the Blue  Ridge Soap Box Derby annual Spring Race held April 30.
