Snack in a Backpack children are receiving free summer reading books for the second year in a row thanks to a Fannin County teacher.
County officials, chamber of commerce members, and members of the Tourism Product Development (TPD) fund committee gathered in early April to celebrate the opening of the new tennis and pickle ball courts at the county recreation center off Tom Boyd Road. Tourism tax dollars used to update county recreation facilities

New basketball, pickleball and tennis courts at the Fannin County Recreation Center on Tom Boyd Road are the latest upgrade to several facilities as the result of Tourism Product Development (TPD) money generated by Fannin County’s hotel/motel tax.

Macy Watkins took and passed her final GED test just nine days after her brother died. A simple goal to create a better life for herself reached a milestone thanks partly to determination brought on by that unexpected tragedy.

Five residents of the Blue Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care embarked on a Dream Flight through the sky Friday morning, June 10. Senior Lifestyle Counselor Cindy Querry said, “Though the Discovery Senior Living, some of our veteran residents have been able to take part in the Dream Flight.

If you’re looking for a fur-ever friend, the Fannin County Animal Control is the place to go! This past week two dogs were taken in, while two were owner reclaimed. Four dogs were taken to the Greenville Humane Society.

Bob Renneke worked to hold back his emotions as he told how nothing could have prepared him for what he saw in war torn Ukraine. Renneke, a Vietnam veteran, returned from Ukraine April 12 after four weeks in the country that is being invaded by the Russian army.
