Competitors came from all five Fannin County schools, Mountain Area Christian Academy and Gilmer County schools to show off their skills in the annual Fannin County Special Olympics Track and Field event last Friday at the Fannin County Recreation Department.

Members of the Fannin County Board of Education were joined by school officials for the Spring 2023 Local Board Training Thursday, March 30. The group toured the county’s three elementary and middle schools to observe students in their classroom settings.

Two suspects charged with arson

Two suspects are in custody facing arson charges and a third remains at large in connection with a March 26 fire in Fannin County. Aaron Manual Kaylor, 35, of 837 New Stansbury Road, Turtletown, remained in the Fannin County jail this week under a $12,500 bond.

Fannin TSA students capture honors at state event

Fannin County High School and middle school Technology Students of America (TSA) members traveled to the State Conference in Athens, Georgia, March 15 through 18, and came home with enough awards to fill a wheelbarrow.

Mineral Springs celebrates, fund drive continues

Celebrating a 50th birthday cannot be complete without a look at the past, the present, and the future. That is the case at Mineral Springs Center, which just celebrated with an anniversary party March 24.
