Richard Gazaway’s daughters, Skylar and Riley, received proceeds last week from the golf tournament earlier this year honoring their late father, Fannin County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Richard Gazaway.
Richard and his wife Heather lost their lives in a tragic car crash in January 2022.
The Fannin Sheriff’s Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #111 organized the tournament, the Corporal Richard Gazaway Memorial Golf Tournament, to raise funds to be used in operations and support of children of law enforcement officers who have lost their lives.
Besides benefiting Skylar and Riley, $2,000 of the proceeds were designated to be used to present scholarships in Richard Gazaway’s name to two Fannin County High School graduates.
Since the untimely passing of the Gazaways, members of the sheriff’s office, through the F.O.P. lodge, have pledged to continue to help the Gazaway children.
Sergeant Jacob Pless, one of the organizers of the tournament, said next year’s golf tournament will be held April 9.
He again thanked all the sponsors, donors and volunteers who made this year’s event successful.
