Fannin school board gets look at new complex

Progress is underway for the Fannin County High School Health and Wellness Center. While groundbreaking is still in a more distant future, school system Chief Operations Officer Darren Danner presented a conceptual perspective of what the future health and athletics complex may look like.

Originally, plans were revealed in October of 2022, and Danner told school board members Thursday that it’s taken just this long for the architects to be able to draw something up. As of right now, there is little further information. Danner plans to have a more comprehensive report for the scheduled Board Training Day on Friday, September 22.

The Health and Wellness Center (HWC) includes an athletic complex consisting of a baseball field, softball field, and coordinating fieldhouses and bathrooms and concessions for sporting events. The complex will also feature a multi-purpose indoor facility and a new CTAE building.

The new multi-purpose building is intended to house wrestling, an indoor practice area, and the school’s healthcare and sports medicine programs. Danner confirmed that there will still be classrooms within the CTAE and HWC.

The CTAE building will allow for further expansion for automotive, welding, and construction classes.

The project has no set budget or start date as of last Thursday’s meeting.
