Blue Ridge City Hall now open

Blue Ridge City Hall is now reopened to the public. While the drive thru has been open, and business has been conducted via appointments and phone, folks are now able to stop by for business. The doors were officially unlocked beginning last week, according to Office Manager Barbie Gerald.
Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association North Georgia Chapter Commander Rob Denison led, Saturday, September 12, State Representative Bunny Manhart, National Sergeant at Arms Gary Lujan and Executive Officer Bubba Slater to place a wreath at the Fannin County Veterans Memorial Park in honor of those who lost their lives during the 9/11 terrorist attacks of 2001.

McCaysville moves forward with park

Reading the 17-page amended alcohol ordinance took more time than conducting the business on the rest of the McCaysville City Council’s agenda when members held their regular meeting Tuesday, September 8.

Free lunches now offered to Fannin students

All students ages 18 and under are able to eat lunch for free at Fannin County schools as of Tuesday, September 8, following an announcement from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Body found at Wilcot Baptist Church identified

The body found in front of Wilscot Baptist Church has been identified. Fannin County Coroner Becky Callihan said, last Thursday, that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation had identified the remains as those of Jason Bruce Crane, 51. He was listed as homeless.

Mayor brings meeting to abrupt halt

With the strike of a gavel, City of Blue Ridge Mayor Donna Whitener adjourned the council’s Tuesday, September 8, meeting amidst arguments with Council members Nathan Fitts and Rhonda Haight.
