Lady Rebels defense shows up in 50-33 victory

The Fannin County Lady Rebel basketball defense showed up and showed out Tuesday, December 21, when the Lady Rebels faced off against the Oconee County Lady Warriors. The Lady Warriors are ranked seventh in 7AAA.

Floyd Ballance, a Purple Heart veteran, has overcome Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) thanks to talking with other veterans about their experiences. “It sticks with you,” Ballance said of having friends and acquaintances die around him.

Mayor’s vote stalls Blue Ridge condos

The City of Blue Ridge voted to table many items for the incoming council during the Tuesday, December 21, meeting, and it seems the saga that has formed around the 200 West First Street property in Blue Ridge may also trickle onto the new council next month.

“The more the merrier,” Fannin County Animal Control Interim Manager J.R. Cornett said inviting folks to volunteer at the facility. Volunteers are welcome to visit, walk and play with dogs at the facility during business hours.

Commission vote puts Polk closer to broadband coverage

Broadband internet will soon be available all across Polk County. At least that is the goal of the county commissioners as they voted Thursday, December 16, to enter into an Internet Service Agreement with Array Communications, LLC, which will do business as Ocoee Communications.
