“We are all in different boats,” Fannin County Development Authority Executive Director Christie Gribble said while explaining the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on local businesses. “The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted just about every business, but in different ways,” Gribble said.

The Blue Ridge City Pool will not open for a 2020 season. “It won’t be open because we did not hire somebody to do the repairs,” Mayor Donna Whitener said.

Chief Superior Court Judge Brenda Weaver has denied bond for Hunter Ethan Elliott in a decision returned April 29. Elliot is charged with the March 15, 2020, crash that claimed the life of two-year-old Cohen Bryson in Blue Ridge.

Kemp’s order includes some shelter in place

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed an executive order extending the state’s shelter-in-place for the “medically fragile” and extended the state’s public health state of emergency through June 12. The statewide shelter-in-place for all citizens expired Thursday, April 30 at 11:59 p.m.
