Fannin land to be sold to collect delinquent taxes

Fannin County Deputy Tax Commissioner Rita Newton is continuing the process to sell property belonging to delinquent taxpayers.

A legal notice appears in The News Observer this week, and will continue for four weeks, advising property owners that Fi. Fa.s, or writs of execution, have been issued ordering the sale of these properties for the amount of the delinquent taxes if the bills remain unpaid.

According to the Fannin County Tax Commissioner’s office, the sale of these parcels will take place on the Fannin County Courthouse steps Tuesday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will continue, if necessary, on Wednesday, April 3, during the same hours.

Purchasers will pay for title, all transfer costs, all taxes, advertising costs and recording fees.

There are 39 parcels listed, with delinquencies ranging from two to five years. The total amount owed is $113,380.54.

Property owners on the list can avoid having their property sold at auction by paying the amount due prior to the start of the sale, Newton said. However, once the sale begins, the parcels will be sold individually to the highest bidders.
