Four students from the SkillsUSA chapter at Fannin County High School competed at the State Leadership and Skills Conference at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta March 9. Emma Pittman finished in third place in Automotive Electrical and Ignition Systems, bringing home a bronze medal.

A total of $5,750 in fines have been levied, several licenses to sell alcohol put on probation and one license suspended as Blue Ridge officials continue their enforcement of the city’s alcohol ordinance.

“Friend” echoed repeatedly through the Georgia capitol last week as state leaders paid tribute to David Ralston, the late Speaker of the state House of Representatives. The House declared a “Tribute to Speaker Ralston” Tuesday, March 14, on Day 33 of its current session.

Two of the fleeing suspects were caught by Sergeant Jessie Godsey and Deputy Kaylee Robertson of the sheriff’s office.

Quick action by Sergeant Jessie Godsey and Deputy Kaylee Robertson of the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of two individuals only minutes after they are accused of breaking into Southern Drug Company in Blue Ridge.
Kevin O’Quinn found himself in “an interesting place to put a 19-year-old kid” when he served as a Ballistic Missile Analyst Technician, part of a four person crew in charge of an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile capable of traveling 5,000 miles to deliver a blast 600 times that of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
