Four students from the SkillsUSA chapter at Fannin County High School competed at the State Leadership and Skills Conference at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta March 9.
Emma Pittman finished in third place in Automotive Electrical and Ignition Systems, bringing home a bronze medal. Pittman took a written test, advancing her to the top 16 and the hands on competition for the championship.
Dane Robbins placed third and earned a bronze medal in Automotive Paint and Refinishing. His written test performance advanced him to hands on competition for the state title.
Brooklyn Henderson had an opportunity to advance from the state event to national competition in Prepared Speech after she finished second in the regional competition.
“Brooklyn did a great job... she received a lot of positive feedback from the judges,” but did not place in the top three in the state, Terry Flowers said.
Daniel Gibson was in state competition in Automotive Technology Service and Repair after his third place finish in the region.
“Daniel did his best, but wasn’t able to advance to the national competition,” Flowers said.
“We hope to grow our chapter next year and have more students compete in the competitions,” Flowers said.
