Newman arrested at fire site, freed on bond

Graylon Jerome Newman is free on a $7,000 bond after being arrested the same day the Copperhill house he was living in burned. Newman, 54, of 193 West Tennessee Avenue, was arrested by Polk County Deputy Sheriff Tyler Nelms Friday, February 5, at 7:19 p.m.

Murder-suicide blamed for couples' death

A man and woman are both dead in what authorities have classified as a murder-suicide. Investigations Captain Justin Turner of the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to 41 Community Hill Drive in The Last Resort area shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday, February 13.

SCAM ALMOST WORKED

Staff members at Blue Ridge Assisted Living are being credited with stopping a scam that could have cost a resident a lot of money. Fannin County Sheriff Dane Kirby said Deputy Sheriff Corporal Matthew Peardon was called to the Ballewtown Road facility shortly before noon, Thursday, February 18.
