Murder-suicide blamed for couples' death

A man and woman are both dead in what authorities have classified as a murder-suicide.

Investigations Captain Justin Turner of the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to 41 Community Hill Drive in The Last Resort area shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday, February 13.

A third party caller to Fannin’s E-911 Center had become concerned after seeing a Facebook post from the female victim.

Upon arrival, deputies found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds inside the residence and called for EMS.

Lisa Iacofano, 50, the owner of the residence, was pronounced dead at the scene according to Fannin County Coroner Becky Callihan.

The male victim, Nicholas Parks, 36, of Ballground, Georgia, was transported to Fannin Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The case was turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and authorities were still awaiting lab test results Thursday, February 18.

However, Sheriff Dane Kirby said evidence at the crime scene indicated Parks had shot Iacofano.
