The Humane Society of Blue Ridge cat of the week is Willow. She is an eight-month-old tabby who is always happy to greet new people. Willow is perky, energetic, curious and playful! Although she is not a huge fan of fellow felines, she has learned to be nice to them and live in harmony.

By Glenn Harbison glenn@thenewsobserver.com Blue Ridge Police Officer Gary Holloway spotted a Chevrolet S-10 pickup that looked suspicious and within minutes joined Sergeant John Kinser of the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office in stopping the truck on Highway 515 at the entrance to Tammen Park.

Furry friends are arguably the best kind, and plenty can be found at Fannin County Animal Control. All dogs taken to animal control are housed at the facility until being reclaimed or adopted. This past week, three dogs were taken in, and one was adopted. None were reclaimed.
