Blue Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care opened its doors wide Friday, July 2, to welcome visitors for “the first big public event we’ve had since post-COVID,” Cindy Querry said.
Querry, who is the facility’s senior lifestyle counselor, said residents, staff, family and friends got together for a time of fellowship and fun while helping a worthy cause.
The event, which attracted about 250 participants, included a fundraiser for Feed Fannin that collected $5,000.
The celebration was filled with activities and games, food and a time for people to simply visit. Visiting was important, especially considering the restrictions the facility had to enforce in conjunction with COVID-19 protocols issued by state and federal authorities.
But now, “officially, everyone is welcome,” Querry said. The facility is operating under “Green Zone” rules set forth by the state Department of Health.
This means visitors are screened, their temperature checked and they are asked to wear masks inside the building.
