Gaddis threatens lawsuit over Polk Beer Board action

Facing a potential lawsuit over a permit denial by the beer board, Polk County commissioners tabled any response to the threat during their regular meeting Thursday night, July 30, at the courthouse in Benton. The commissioners called an executive session, out of public view, to discuss the matter.

Fundraising effort benefits law officers

When Tim and Debbie Smith saw support growing for local law enforcement officers through meals and gift cards to restaurants, they asked themselves, “What is it we can do?” From that question came Fannin County - Back the Blue.

Fannin County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Gary Edwards and Corporal Dustin Carder received life saving pins from Fannin County EMA after saving the life of a man who was found at the site of an automobile accident.

Fannin school lunch prices up

Fannin County school lunch prices have increased by $0.10 this year. Elementary school lunches will be $2.35, and middle and high school lunches will be $2.60. The reduced student lunch price will remain at $0.40. Breakfast for all students will also remain free.

The Fannin County Public Library Board of Trustees remembered member Rita VanOrsdal, selected a new chairman and discussed a lack of funding from the city of McCaysville during their quarterly meeting Thursday, July 23.
