Habitat for Humanity announces new executive director

Habitat for Humanity of Fannin and Gilmer Counties has announced that they have appointed a new Executive Director. The new executive director is Anita Hardy, a realtor who joined volunteer efforts earlier this year. “When the position became available, I followed my heart,” Hardy said.

Frank Wood will become the Appalachian Judicial Circuit’s acting district attorney when Alison Sosebee is sworn in as the circuit’s new Superior Court judge. He will assume the role until Sosebee’s replacement is appointed by Governor Brian Kemp.

Bond violation sends suspect back to jail

An 18-year-old Fannin County man was denied bond Monday morning, December 18, less than two weeks after being freed from custody. Kayden Ja’Quan Hodges, 18, of 55 Cherrywood Court, Blue Ridge, was first arrested December 5 on a charge of Sexual Battery.

Cause of inmate’s death not known

Joshua Darrin Hughes was found unconscious and unresponsive in the Fannin County Jail one day before he was scheduled to be transferred into the Drug Court program. He was pronounced dead at Blue Ridge Medical Center about an hour later.
