Arts association closed, considering cancellations

The Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association (BRMAA) will remain closed to the public through May 5 and is considering canceling major events. “The continued health and safety of our entire community has been the utmost importance to the BRMAA,” Nichole Potzauf, executive director said.

Life Care residents receive paintings to brighten spirits

During trying times, it is important to unite as a community and lend a hand wherever possible. Jennifer Danner understands the importance of this concept, which is why she decided to get together some paintings to distribute to the residents at the Life Care Center of Copper Basin.

FCHS seniors share thoughts of graduation, future

“This is definitely something that will not only forever impact our senior class, if we don’t get to walk (in a graduation ceremony), but all senior classes across the nation,” said Ryley Mervine, Fannin County High School (FCHS) senior in regards to school closures.

Kindergarten registration to be online or by telephone

Fannin County School System’s kindergarten registration will open Monday, April 20 and continue through Friday, April 24.  Children who have attained the age of five on or before September 1, 2020 will be eligible for enrollment in kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year.

Fannin County extends emergency ordinance

The Fannin County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to extend the county’s State of Emergency declaration ordinance Wednesday, April 8, following Governor Brian Kemp’s extension of the statewide shelter-in-place order through the end of the month.

June 9 new election date

Georgia’s Statewide General Primary and Presidential Preference Primary (PPP) elections, previously scheduled for March 24 and May 19, have been postponed until June 9.

Signs connect help, hope

Many local organizations offer help when people need it, and at the same time there are people who want to help the organizations meet those needs. Those were the thoughts of B. Alison Sosebee who said, thinking of the available resources, “They’re here to help you if you need help.
